Meet Wömb!

Wömb is a sludge stoner doom metal band from Los Angeles, CA that emerged in 2022, who is best known for blending psychedelic, punk, and thrash elements. They're influenced by bands like Electric Wizard, Sleep, and System of a Down, and have been carving out their own heavy sound since they began taking over the local music scene. Here's their story on how they became the badass band they are today, enjoy!

Who They Are and How They Began...

As mentioned, Wömb's roots stretch back to 2022, when members Juan "Cheladawg" (bass and vocals), Adrian "Shmegdrian" (guitar and vocals), and Henry "Hendawg" (drums) came together to create something new and special.  The band's origins date back to a chance meeting between Juan and Adrian at Pierce College, where they bonded over a casual jam session after being introduced by their mutual high school friend, Jacob. The lineup was solidified when Henry, a seasoned drummer with experience in several bands, joined the crew after being introduced through another friend.

Style and Musical Inspirations

Wömb's sound is a distinctive fusion of doom metal that includes psychedelic elements, the raw energy of punk and thrash all wrapped up in a stoner-metal vibe that makes them stand out from the rest. The band's influences span a diverse range, from pioneering doom metal acts like Electric Wizard and Sleep, to legendary bands such as System of a Down, Stone Temple Pilots, and Motörhead. Additionally, Wömb draws inspiration from experimental artists like Ty Segall and of iconic GG Allin, further expanding their craft in their music.

The Significance of Wömb

Wömb's story began with a different name - Mothership Womb - but they ultimately opted for the simpler, one-word name: "Wömb". It stems from the idea of sound being an invention, reflecting the band's experimental approach to music, which was a core part of their initial concept. Originally, Wömb experimented with cover songs, but recently original material has been their main focus. Their musical craftmanship can be heard through their latest self-titled album, Wömb, which was released on 4/20 of this year. Although they now perform original material, some notable covers they mastered include songs by Anal Cunt, GG Allin and Disrupt, as well as a rendition of "Little Red Riding Hood" by The Meteors, which was performed with drummer Damian.

Wömb's Musical Goal

The band's mission is simple: they're all about sharing their tunes with the world and vibing in harmony - music is their happy place. They love what they do and want to keep making music that brings people together. Additionally, another goal of theirs is pushing the doom metal genre growth in Southern California, preaching the message of end times.

What's Next for Wömb?

Wömb is gearing up for their next few shows, slated for early June, with details still being finalized. Following the successful release of their self-titled album on 4/20, the band is doubling down on their creative output, which includes working on new music while also exploring visual projects - including music videos and a photoshoot coming soon.
