Tangle is a San Fernando Valley-based band that seamlessly fuses psych, noise, and rock to create an immersive live experience for their audience. Inspired by LA's neo-psychedelic scene and named in tribute to a late friend, they deliver a unique, atmospheric sound that is hard to not get obsessed with. The Story Behind Tangle...
Emerging from San Fernando Valley, Tangle was formed in 2023 and includes the talents of James Howard on vox/guitar, Chris Garcia on the drums, and Christopher Hunt on bass. In previous years, they each played in different eras for the band Muskk. Ever since then, they’ve been coming together to create what is now known as Tangle.
Their sound has been deeply rooted in the Los Angeles neo-psychedelic scene, which blends elements of psych, noise, post-hardcore, shoegaze, and rock 'n' roll to create a unique sonic experience. The band draws inspiration from iconic groups like Sonic Youth, The Replacements, Hüsker Dü, and Slint, as well as contemporary acts such as The Oh Sees, Wand, Ty Segall, and Meatbodies. Other classic bands that have inspired them have been bands such as Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath which have immensely contributed to their distinctive sound.
The band's name, Tangle, pays tribute to Spencer Morton, a dear friend who had initially considered using the name for his own band before his passing. This meaningful nod serves as a long-lasting legacy and tribute to their dear friend's memory.
Tangle's artistic vision focuses on crafting immersive live experiences, prioritizing texture and atmosphere over conventional showmanship. Tangle has always been committed to showcasing their original talent by creating catchy and vocally powerful material.
