Meet MUTEVOX!

MUTEVOX was formed in 2019 by guitarist Guillermo Manríquez and vocalist Gustavo Villafañet, who met in high school back in 2001. Their sound, dubbed "hybrid rock," blends progressive rock, classic rock, and 80s rock en español. The band's lineup also features drummer, Alberto Bezie, guitarist and composer Jon Lira, and bassist Antonio P. Coming together with a shared passion for music, they aim to continue to share their unique sound with a broader audience. Here's their story, enjoy!

When and How MUTEVOX Began...

MUTEVOX was formed in 2019, following the separation of the heavy metal and hard rock band "EYE OF GOD." The founding members, guitarist Guillermo Manríquez and vocalist Gustavo Villafañet, initially met in high school in 2001 and since then decided to make music an integral part of their lives. Years later, the duo reunited in 2019 at a Dream Theater concert, where they met drummer Alberto Bezie. The band's talented lineup was later expanded to include guitarist and composer Jon Lira, and just recently included the talent of bassist Antonio P. Sharing a common musical vision and influences, the members came together to create MUTEVOX, which is driven by their passion for music and the desire to create something new.

Style and Musical Inspirations

The band members share a passion for progressive rock, classic rock, and 80's Rock En Español. With this shared inspiration, it allows them to unite in a deeper level musically and create true musical masterpieces. With a multitude of influences shaping their sound, MUTEVOX thrives on experimenting with their sound of "hybrid rock." This creative approach allows them to create a multitude of original songs, which are crafted with care and precision. The band takes great pride in bringing their original music to life, allowing them to fully enjoy the creative process and relish the moment when a track is fully realized and mastered. Ultimately, their goal is to share their music with their loyal fans and the rest of the world, which they hope creates a deep connection and allows them to make their music their own.

The Significance of MUTEVOX

The band's name, MUTEVOX, was chosen for its brevity and ambiguity. The band chose to deliberately avoid any clear linguistic or cultural ties by choosing a name that doesn't conform to the Spanish or English language. Instead, it functions as a distinctive brand identity. The phrase "Mutevox" can be interpreted as "mute the vox," (or in other words 'Mute your thoughts!). Their unique name allows the disconnection from preconceived notions and invites their listeners to form their own connections with their music.

MUTEVOX's Musical Goal

As MUTEVOX looks into the future, they plan to remain committed to their ongoing music creation and development. Although they acknowledge that pursuing their musical passions can be challenging, they are beyond grateful for the growing support their audience has given them. For them, it has been a rewarding and fulfilling feeling to see their music gradually becoming a part of more people's lives. They look forward to continuing to share their passion for their art with a wider audience.

What's Next for MUTEVOX?

On April 26, MUTEVOX will be featured at a notable Latin music event in Santa Monica, which will be hosted by ULTIMATE EARS PRO. This particular event will allow the band to have a valuable opportunity to reach a broader audience of music creators and enthusiasts, which can potentially expand their exposure and create a larger fan base.
