From the sprawl of LA, Get Got is the new psych rock force rising from the gritty streets and sounds of Los Angeles. Born in the west coast in late 2023, this collective of creatives brings an unapologetic energy to the table, fueled by the dark humor of their namesake - a phrase coined from the unforgiving world of The Wire. Get ready to get got.. Enjoy their story!
Get Got's sound is rooted in psych rock, but their influences are far-reaching. The band members draw from diverse inspirations; Jared draws inspiration from Gustavo Cerati's atmospheric soundscapes, John Dwyer's lo-fi garage rock, and Stu Mackenzie's genre-bending experimentation. Sterling channels Geddy Lee's iconic basslines, Tim Hellman's trippy textures from Osees, and Lucas Harwood's innovative approach from King Gizzard. Meanwhile, Josh gets inspiration from Bill Bruford's complex drumming, Stewart Copeland's dynamic energy, and John Bonham's heavy rhythms. With these influences, Get Got explores a wide range of sounds - from heavy, fuzzed-out rock to psych-infused jazz rock, refusing to be tied down to one style.
"Los Vortex is a band we recommend to check out. They’re homies and we’ve played some shows with them they’re based in the valley and it’s always fun getting to see them play. "
Get Got's flame was lit when Jared brought two original songs to the table. The band then rehearsed, refining their sound, with little thought to playing covers - the focus was on crafting their own psych rock persona. From these jam sessions, their identity took shape.
Fast forward to now, Get Got has gigs lined up for October, with new music brewing. Though it hasn’t been formally recorded, the band's excitement is evident. Their mantra? Enjoy the ride, see where music takes them, and most importantly, have fun - no formalities needed.
Check out this great song in this studio session!
