Dropcase is a four-piece band from Orange County blending ska, hardcore, reggae, and punk into a real, high-energy sound. Formed in 2016, they cut their teeth on backyard shows and haven’t slowed down since. Here is their story!

Dropcase is a band out of OC, California - repping Anaheim, Fullerton and Tustin. The roots of the band run deep: Nicky and Lucas have been friends since kindergarten. Lucas Met Carlos in high school, and later connected with Jose through a mutual friend Tosh (a former member of the band). The genre is derived from a mix of influences - Ska, hardcore, reggae, and punk are the core. The band was initially heavy into 2 Tone and 3rd wave bands like The Specials, Reel Big Fish, Less Tha Jake, and Operation Ivy, but have always had love for the harder side of the spectrum : Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, Turnstile, Trapped Under Ice- helped shape the aggresive sound that makes Dropcase. The band started off like most bands, covering songs loved by everyone and playing them in backyard shows. Those are the best, they get sweaty, loud and are fun as hell. The band name came about after cycling through a few options, Dropcase sounded the best and was agreed upon by all the members.

Musically, Dropcase comes from different backgrounds:

• Jose (Guitar) grew up playing old-school funk.
   
• Carlos (Bass) plays modern funk, R&B, and hip hop.

• Nicky (Vocals) has a background in theatre.
   
• Lucas (Drums) plays punk and ska.
   

That mix of styles has helped shape a sound that’s hard to pin down but always high energy.
